Tesla to Donate a Total of $37.5M for Education in Nevada

Tesla officials say a $1.5 million grant is only the beginning of their investment in K-12 education in Nevada.

KENNESAW, Ga. (Aug 28, 2018) — CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Tesla officials say a $1.5 million grant is only the beginning of their investment in K-12 education in Nevada.

The Nevada Appeal reports Tesla officials announced at a state Board of Education meeting Thursday that Tesla plans to contribute $37.5 million to education in Nevada over the next five years.

Gov. Brian Sandoval says the funding will provide more Nevada students with access to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education.

Tesla's Chief Technology Officer J.B. Straubel says he expect the demand for jobs in those fields to grow dramatically in the state over the next few years.
